According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, at 5 am: the Low Pressure Area in the Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes developed into a Tropical Depression. MARING was the chosen name. Storm Signal #1 was raised in Batanes Group of Islands. The storm accelerated to East Southeast direction. Storm warning signal over Batanes was lifted.
